Appeal for Maggie

This is Maggie and she is a 10 year old blue Staffie. She was abandoned and came to us via the dog warden.  We believe she has been used for breeding and has had multiple litters.

Due to a hormone problem, she has also lost the majority of the fur on her body.  She is receiving treatment to help this, plus we have done blood tests to make sure there are no more under-lying problems with her. Since getting some tests back, her swollen stomach appears to be due to low albumin levels so she is going to have to stay on a special medicated diet.

There is a possibility that she might be pregnant so we are keeping a close eye on her over the next few weeks.  She is not fit enough to go for long walks yet or do lots of stairs so ideally we would like to find her a home with direct access to a garden.

Despite all this she is a happy, wiggly girl who loves tummy rubs and cuddles. She seems quite happy around other dogs and is currently looking for a foster carer who is experienced with dogs.

We’ll keep you updated on her progress!

We just want to highlight the plight of the dogs that are used for breeding like this and the pups that end up being sold online or abandoned, ending up in rescue centres like ours.
