Sadly like many other charities across the UK, we are completely full with dogs at our kennels and in foster homes – we now have a two week waiting list to take in dogs.
This is largely the result of a huge increase in dog breeding and ownership across lockdown, and the sharp decrease in demand for dogs now. We are seeing many more dogs being surrendered by breeders if they can’t sell litters or from owners who don’t research or misunderstand the reality of pet ownership. We are seeing many more dogs in need of veterinary treatment like Cherry, pictured above, entering our doors through no fault of their own. This trend has had a huge impact on our funding and our capacity to take in more dogs.
Thanks to your ongoing support we can continue to be there for the dogs that need us.GIVE A GIFT TODAY
Our wonderful patron and animal rights activist Peter Egan popped into the office to meet Jasmine, a gorgeous Dachshund found as a stray after being used for breeding.
Sadly we are seeing more dogs like Jasmine enter our care, who are abandoned after producing multiple litters. Many of these dogs have been used for breeding to meet the demand for puppies across lockdown, and then dumped after serving their purpose to unscrupulous breeders.
