Cramer’s Story

We wanted to share Cramer’s story to help spread awareness of the importance of dog vaccinations and how they can, quite literally,  be the difference between life and death.

Cramer, an approximately 10 month old Yorkie came to us after being abandoned. He was not microchipped, and this generally means that he was not vaccinated as a puppy. Cramer was fine when he came to us from the pound, and our kennel staff fell in love. However, the next morning he was flat, lethargic and not eating. This is a picture of poor Cramer after he was rushed to the vet. They tried to help him with medication and fluids, but he just became weaker and weaker. Sadly Cramer passed away, with our wonderful kennel manager Jenni travelling to be with him so he wasn’t alone.

This story, and stories of many dogs just like Cramer are becoming all the more common. Dogs are being abandoned at an unprecedented rate, and they are frequently not vaccinated. When dogs aren’t vaccinated or are not kept up to date with yearly boosters, they are at huge risk for becoming very unwell, and many die. This is especially prevalent with dogs purchased online. Therefore, we urge everyone to ensure their dogs are fully vaccinated and that every year dogs get a booster..
