Lexi’s story

Our team initially noticed she had a swollen neck and mobility issues and after a visit to our vet, sadly Lexi was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer and was given just three months to live. Fortunately, this sweet lady is in a foster home with the amazing Sally and family who have kindly agreed to give Lexi the love and palliative care that she needs so she has a happy and comfortable end of life.

Worryingly, we have seen an increase in the number of dogs being surrendered to us if their owners are unwilling or unable to pay for medical care and we are encouraging anyone thinking about getting a dog to consider the cost of dog ownership, including insurance, before making a decision. Too many senior dogs like Lexi are ending up in rescues when they should be enjoying happy retirements.

We’d like to say a big thank you to our wonderful foster carers for helping dogs like Lexi – we couldn’t do what we do without you.
